Call for Nominations: Community Members for Research Ethics Boards
Are you:
- Passionate about research participants’ rights?
- Always in pursuit of learning opportunities?
- Curious about health research ethics?
If so, you will be an excellent addition to a Manitoba health research ethics board as a community member!
We are looking for community members with no professional experience in the health sciences, to review health research ethics projects that impact people in Manitoba, Canada, and around the world alongside a dedicated group of research and ethics experts.
Your input provides a participant/patient-focused perspective to ensure that the highest standard of care is being taken to safeguard a participant’s well-being and privacy.
This is a volunteer position, where members are expected to gather online for a three-hour session each month.
Requirements:
Be available one weekday a month (currently, the fourth Monday of each month, subject to change)
Have no professional experience in the health sciences
Be willing to commit to two to three hours of your own time per month to review applications before the meeting
Be willing and able to undertake training to understand key issues in research ethics (training will be provided)
Have working access to an internet-enabled device to view proposals and communicate comments
