Indigenous Partners

RITHIM recognizes the importance of community engagement and culturally appropriate ethics reviews for health research that involves Indigenous peoples. Standards, practices and processes related to Indigenous research ethics continue to evolve. RITHIM has worked with with First Nations, Metis and Inuit partners to develop the questions in the Harmony Health Research Application form and the current guidance on Research Involving First Nations, Metis or Inuit on our website.  RITHIM is committed to continuing our open dialogue and learning from our Indigenous partners, so that we can align with and support the requirements, processes and best practices related to Indigenous research ethics as they evolve.

National Partnerships

Since its inception, RITHIM has benefitted from the expertise, experience and advice from other jurisdictions across Canada. We want to thank our national partners from coast-to-coast (REBs, government departments,  post-secondary institutions) who have supported our development and shared best practices for everything from governance to operational policies.  RITHIM is a member of the Canadian Association of Research Ethics Boards (CAREB) and the Network of Networks (N2), and has adopted the N2/CAREB SOPs for research ethics boards. We continue to connect with our national partners to explore opportunities for efficiency and harmonization in research approvals that will benefit all Canadians.
