Industry-Sponsored Project Fee Assessment

For the provision of research ethics review services provided by CHIPER, industry-sponsored projects will be charged a fee of $4000.00*.  The fee will be billed upon completion of initial CHIPER review.

*This fee reflects the time and resources for conducting initial and continuing reviews of projects, including continuous monitoring and oversight of active projects throughout their lifecycle.  The Principal Investigator must ensure the sponsor is aware of this fee.

When the same project is submitted separately by different Principal Investigators, each will be billed $4000.

Fee Waiver Criteria

The fee is waived for:

  • Projects receiving a grant-in-aid – normally an investigator-initiated study with partial funding with no data returned to the sponsor in any form or manner (e.g. supply of drugs or devices or a very limited amount of funding from an industry sponsor).
  • Projects funded by a public, charitable or not-for-profit organization.
  • Projects funded by Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and National Institutes of Health (NIH).
  • Projects undertaken within undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate training programs.
  • Projects without funding.

How Do I Submit My Fee?

RITHIM strongly recommends that the Billing Contact named in the Harmony Research Application Form is the industry sponsor representative responsible for site payments.  An invoice will be sent from Research Manitoba directly to the Billing Contact provided in the form. GST will be added, if applicable. Payment may be made by cheque or EFT.
